I have been sewing
since I was about 9yrs old. I started with clothes for my
Barbie Dolls and went from there. Over the years I made
shirts, skirts, pants and jackets. I made flags and
things that I needed when I was in color guard in high
school, I even made my prom dress. The first time I ever went to the Renaissance Faire was up North with some friends. I live in Southern California so it was a bit of a drive. I couldn't believe all of the beautiful costumes. The next time I went was the Southern Renaissance faire in Devore, CA. That's when I knew it was time to have a costume of my own. Not knowing how to make one I purchased certain pieces and learned how they were made. I knew I could make them just as nice or better then the ones they sell there. I haven't purchased a dress piece since. Thanks to my best friend Aaron Johnson, I had to learn how to make faire approved costumes. He talked me into joining Stoddard's Company, a sub group of St. Michael's Guild. My first dress was English Middle Class. It consists of 2 skirts, a shirt, bloomers, a bag hat and a bodice with sleeves. Believe it or not that first blue dress is still being worn by someone, its 6 years old and still going strong. I loved making them so much that I have had a new dress every year always different colors and designs. Some of the girls that were in my group that didn't know how to sew asked me to make their dresses. Several years have gone by and now they are back for new ones. There has been such a high demand for my costume design that I decided to make them available through this web site. I have created English peasant costumes to upper middle class. I have also created Italian Noble Men's and women's costumes and I'm staring to venture into Scottish Ionar's (Doublets), and possibly German and Turkish. Please keep checking back to see more of my creations. There will be new pictures every couple of months. |
